Unfortunately the www.mildredlovesyou.com domain still remains offline to date, but the new alternative address is taking up the slack until things return to normal (and beyond too - for safety's sake).

In more pleasant news, Mildred and I will be updating again at last tomorrow with a nice Easter Greeting...

...And I know I promised a cooperative drawing with a good buddy as a new Extra Goody soonish in my last blog post, but time didn't allow. So it'll have to wait until after the Easter-Greeting Extra Goody. ;)

Doodle Diary / Pictoplasma / Site News

For my birthday last year, I gave myself a 2nd blog. This 2nd blog was meant to get me doodling again (publicly that is), but it lay unused (except for the birthday post itself) until the end of this just newly past March. I am happy to report that I've finally gotten it going again at last, and that I've posted a weeks' worth of new Creature Doodles over at The LaLaVox Doodle Diary in the meantime:

But now to some actual "Mildred Loves You" news...

My mildredlovesyou.com domain remains offline to date. The entire content of the site is now (and will continue to be) located at the new address, but I am planning to get my mildredlovesyou.com domain going again too at some point. I just need to organize a new domain host. To do that, however, I'll need to write a number of emails that I haven't managed to get to yet. I'll keep you posted.

In more pleasant news, I currently have a new Extra Goody in the works (a cooperative drawing with a good buddy), and hope to get that finished up and posted by next Monday.

I also plan to finally begin continuing the Mildred Loves Pin-Ups series again at last - starting soonish! These Pin-Ups always mean many, many hours of work though, so wish me luck!!!

But I would like to get 4 new Guest-Star pin-ups finished before MildredLovesYou.com's 3rd birthday party on June 15th+16th... We'll see how it goes. Help me out by keeping your fingers crossed!!! ;) :P :* =D

The MildredLovesYou.com Domain Saga Continues (Day 10)

Yes indeed; the MildredLovesYou.com Domain Saga is continuing into its 10th day now. And something very fishy is apparently going on over at the company that supposedly hosts my mildredlovesyou.com domain.

I finally got my contact there on the phone again yesterday, and he said he would look into things. The domain has however continued to remain offline. Today he is simply hanging up on me (a different style of hanging up for each of my 3 calls; for call #2 I got to listen to the radio at his desk for a bit). WTF???

So, I have now moved a copy of the entire Mildred Loves You site over to my lalavoxbox.com domain. It's not completely functional yet (there will be broken links and such to be found), but all of the important stuff is already there. Here are the brand-spanking-new alternative addresses:

And now of course I'm wondering how to get my mildredlovesyou.com domain back!!! If anyone out there has any tips, please let me know!!!

In the meantime, so that this post will have something colorful as decoration, I thought I'd go down memory lane a bit here and embed the "Girl Galleries" video I posted over at YouTube back in 2007. It's a sort of slide-show for my LaLaVoxBox illustration portfolios (including lots of early drawings of Mildred and friends) with some very excellent music by Künstler Treu and Dauerfisch. A 4-Legged Mildred in Italy (+ Still Offline; Day 9)

My friend Julia has returned from a little trip to Sorrento Italy and just sent me this photo:



So I did a bit of Googling to see if I could find the source of this 4-legged, pigtail-wearing Mildred on a T-Shirt. I had no luck in finding her, but I did discover that there is a T-Shirt company out there called Mildred (run by one Uncle Mildred apparently). Uncle Mildred has nothing to do with the 4-legged Mildred T-Shirt in that shop window in Italy though, as far as I can tell. Did the name Mildred become a fad thang while I wasn't looking?...

Oh, and, today is now Day-9 of my mildredlovesyou.com domain being offline. I did finally get someone on the telephone again today, but, hours later, we still remain offline. :( I'll be patient until tomorrow; but then it's telephone time again. If it weren't so much trouble to change all of the direct links to specific pages on the site that I've posted in other places on the net, I'd switch the whole damn thing over to my lalavoxbox.com domain and leave only a redirecting index HTML over at mildredlovesyou.com. Grrrrr! >:(

Still Offline! >:(

My brother hosts my websites, and he just did a server switch for these sites over the weekend. This has had no effect on my lalavoxbox.com site, other than making it a bit faster here in Europe. But since the domain name for mildredlovesyou.com is hosted here in Germany, the change in DNS addresses has resulted in mildredlovesyou.com going offline this past Sunday. The site is still there, it's just that no one can see it. The domain host has been alerted, and I was told that the site would go back online Tuesday morning, but it is Thursday now, and we are still offline. My more recent emails have remained completely ignored as far as I can tell (I guess they don't want to be bothered on their week-long coffee break), so all I can do now is hope someone over there will finally take the 15 minutes or so necessary to type in the new DNS addresses. Wish me luck!

Extra Goody #7 - "Mildred Presents: Lenia - from Carolyn Turgeon's book MERMAID - as a rub-on-tattoo design"

Lenia will be available as a limited edition rub-on tattoo tucked in between the covers of Carolyn's Turgeon's book MERMAID, which will be going on sale in March of this year! I was delighted when Carolyn asked me to design it for her!



It's also fun for me to know that the artist responsible for another book-promo goody for MERMAID is none other than the legendary Easy-Bake Coven palmist, illustrator, and musician Dame Darcy herself!

I well remember my first encounter with the Dame's work - long ago - in a back corner of the comic book store Grober Unfug here in Berlin. I was fascinated by the dark and scratchy interiors of her comic book MEATCAKE, and was astounded and impressed with their fearless celebration of all things ornate, girlie, and darkly Victorian.

And so here are the main characters of Carolyn's book MERMAID as paper dolls - brought to us all by the ever energetic, enigmatic, and delightfully unapologetic
Dame Darcy!



I got to see Dame Darcy's paper dolls before I finished my tattoo design, by the way - so her take on Lenia - as well as my own style of cartoon pin-up illustrating over at MildredLovesYou.com - informed the Lenia-tattoo's design. I would however, at some point, like to do a less cartoony rendition of Lenia that is closer to the darkly luminous vision of her I had in my head as I read Carolyn's book - just for my own personal pleasure, you see...

In the meantime, here is my rub-on tattoo design once again, this time in the various color-versions I played around with a bit before finishing up the final version...



And here is the splash-page version I did for the entry to Carolyn Turgeon's website. I'm assuming this splash-page will stay there until such time as her next book is released (upon which a new splash-page with the theme of her new book will become necessary of course).



And of course: HAPPY NEW YEAR! - and all the best to all of you in 2011!

...Which brings me to the one-more-thing I wanted to mention to you before saying goodbye again for this time around...

It looks as though 2011 will be The Year of the Mermaid - at least in Carolyn's Turgeon's corner of the world. She has created a blog called "I Am A Mermaid" and has declared her intention to post something mermaidy there regularly all through the year of 2011. Let us all wish her well in this endeavor! She has collected all sorts of delights to shower us with: interviews with multitudes of professional mermaids, mermaid legends and trivia, and assorted other goodies - from all over the world - including an interview with our very own Lorelei Vanora!
