FaceBook Prudery + An Upcoming 3rd Anniversary Party

Yesterday morning, when I went to view the current goings-on at FaceBook via our Mildred Mahler profile there, I was greeted with this bit of unpleasantness:



I see... Well... Candy-Box Rosie is actually wearing pasties and panties in this pin-up (yes, they are in pink, I know - but still), so I don't think it strictly literally violates any FaceBook prudery policies.

But I'm not the rebellious sort who enjoys going out of my way to prove a point. And I have neither the stomach nor the time for further aggravations or any ridiculous battles at the moment. So I have simply removed this image from my "Pin-Ups and Other Goodies" album at Face Book and locked that album down so that it is no longer completely publicly viewable.

Fine for me, really. It means that there will be a surprise or two for anyone who actually takes the extra effort to look at these pin-ups at our website rather than at Mildred's FaceBook profile. ...And - by the way - who out there was enough of an uptight busy-body to complain in the first place?!?...

While we're on the subject of Social Network Prudery, I might as well mention that a couple of years ago, when I was in the process of uploading our pin-ups to Mildred's now woefully neglected MySpace page, the police-bots there refused the above pin-up, and this one:



The other pin-ups were accepted without a fuss. I guess Candy-Box Rosie and Coco Delish are just too openly voluptuous in these two pin-ups. ;)

And now on to more pleasant news...

Our apparently shocking MildredLovesYou.com website will be celebrating its 3-Year Anniversary on June 16th. To kick this event off in style, we will be throwing a wild bash in conjunction with Pinky's Peepshow here in Berlin on June 15th (which is a Wednesday). Here are the flyers for said event:

Mildred Mahler vs LaLaVox

Hello out there. LaLaVox again (as always). Recently, at some sort of party or other, a friend (with whom I was already connected at FaceBook) was telling another friend (with whom I was not yet connected at FaceBook) that I have the most confusing FaceBook profile ever.

She's right of course. But the reason for this is that I do not have a LaLaVox profile at FaceBook - I only have a Mildred Mahler profile at FaceBook.

At MySpace, on the other hand, I have one for myself (i.e. LaLaVox) and a separate one for Mildred. Unfortunately both of these remain woefully unattended to on an on-going basis. I have far too many different accounts online for my particular energy level and attention span in the meantime, and I simply refuse to add another to the list. Who has time for all this stuff anyway? I know I don't! So Mildred's FaceBook account (and this blog) will have to do for both of us simultaneously. It's not as if Mildred could be expected to help out, after all.

So who is Mildred Mahler and who is LaLaVox? Well, first of all let's clarify who Mildred Mahler is not: Mildred Mahler is not the artist who illustrates the cartoon pin-ups that grace the pages of www.mildredlovesyou.com and Mildred Mahler's FaceBook and MySpace photo galleries. That would be me - LaLaVox (surprise, surprise). And now to clarify who Mildred Mahler is: Mildred Mahler is, is my cartoon pin-up creation; the figure head for - the representative of - our Mildred Loves You website, all of the additional cartoon-pin-ups who romp there, and the peculiar mini-universe I plan to continue building around her. She sprang unannounced from my pencil one wee hour in late 2006 looking exactly like this:



My MySpace LaLaVox profile declares that I am a Gemini who grew up in different parts of Mississippi (and other Southern places), and that I'm attached. Mildred's MySpace and FaceBook profiles report to the world that she is a Scorpio and single. They may also mention that she's originally from New Orleans, but I can't remember at this point, and am loath to go and check while in the process of writing this blog entry. Whatever our differences in background, astrological arrangement, and partner status however, we both live in (and love) Berlin these days! - just so you know...

A Brief Peek Through the Curtains...

Hi. LaLaVox here. Though this blog would tend to indicate otherwise, things have actually gone on at www.mildredlovesyou.com since late November 2008, so I have lots of catching up to do here.

I won't be doing it this time around though. That will all come during the 1st week of August - only days away from now. In the meantime I would just like to say that Mildred was talked into opening a FaceBook account last month by a 5 meter long albino Burmese python named Julius (and her owner, 8E). If you have a FaceBook account and would like to join Mildred and the rest of us there, you can find her profile here.

You might also want to drop by www.mildredlovesyou.com to take a peek at our July pin-up. Things still aren't completely back to 100% working order there yet, but I would very much like for you to see our very first pin-up featuring a guest star... (Pssst... Yes, you guessed it: our first guest star is Hedoluxe - of Dr. Sketchy's fame, etc...)
